How can Africa accelerate digital transformation while building more sustainable and resilient economies? A new Digital and Green Innovation (DGI) Action whitepaper explores this question through the experience of Senegal, highlighting both the potential and the challenges of the twin transition.
Based partly on research with Orange Corners Senegal partners and entrepreneurs, this whitepaper examines how digital solutions and green innovations are emerging across Senegal. Based on insights from more than 35 entrepreneurs, investors, entrepreneurship support organisations and policymakers, the study shows that promising innovations such as solar energy solutions and precision agriculture require more than entrepreneurial ambition to reach scale.
The findings highlight the importance of strengthening the wider innovation ecosystem through supportive policies, enabling regulations and targeted support that helps sustainable solutions move beyond pilot projects and individual initiatives.
The report identifies water management and food security as key areas where collaboration between European and Senegalese parties can accelerate climate resilience, digitalisation and inclusive growth.
Senegal is the first country featured in the DGI research series, which also examines Kenya and Mozambique. Together, these studies provide practical insights into how to support Africa’s digital and green transformation by combining local innovation with coordinated ecosystem-level action.
