At the root lies one big question: how entrepreneurial ecosystems differ across developing countries and what that means for tailoring support.

This D4D whitepaper examines why Kenya, despite its reputation as Africa's "Silicon Savannah," has struggled to achieve large-scale digital and green transitions. Research found that innovations such as electric mobility, solar irrigation and digital agriculture have significant potential but remain limited by policies, financing gaps and market conditions that favor existing unsustainable systems.
