Earlier this summer, CCMC KRI concluded. A collaboration between Wedo Consulting and Orange Corners, CoCreateMyCity brought entrepreneurial thinking to the forefront of higher education in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Designed to strengthen the local economy, the programme guided student teams to identify real-world challenges, co-create market-driven solutions and build businesses with the potential for long-term impact.
How did they like it? Participants Zhalla Energy and Fast Ijar share!
Zhalla Energy
Koya University struggles with blackouts and polluting diesel generators. The answer is ZHALLA Energy – a hybrid solar and wind solution tailored to Koya’s natural resources. Their first MVP project will deliver 130 kW of clean, reliable power to the university, cutting costs and emissions. With a Power Purchase Agreement model, the university pays per kWh while the team provides installation and maintenance. This is scalable to other universities, businesses and communities. By investing in ZHALLA Energy, supporters are helping Kurdistan Iraq become a leader in green, resilient power – starting with education.
Fast Ijar
Fast Ijar is transforming how people rent homes in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Today, tenants, landlords and agencies deal with a messy, manual and often unreliable process. The team’s solution is a single mobile app covering everything: finding properties, signing digital contracts, paying rent and bills, even booking moving services. Landlords and agencies get smart tools to track payments and manage listings, while renters enjoy clarity and security. With a huge market and early validation from users and real estate offices, Fast Ijar is set to modernise housing — making renting fast, safe and stress-free.
