Orange Corners is pleased to announce the winners of the second round of the Orange Corners incubation and acceleration subsidy programme, which closed on 29 September 2023. Round 2 covered 8 countries and regions: Burundi, Côte d’Ivoire, Iraq (Kurdistan Region), Mali, Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa and South Sudan.
Burundi
Our Orange Corners Burundi programme will be implemented for the next five years by social enterprise 3hi Africa. Established in 2018, 3hi Africa brings considerable experience running accelerator programmes in Burundi to the table, making this an excellent partner to run the new Orange Corners Burundi hub.
Côte d’Ivoire
For Orange Corners Côte d’Ivoire, we’ll continue our partnership with ESP. Fostering entrepreneurial solutions for prosperity, ESP enables innovative, scalable and profitable enterprises to build prosperity. Its main three pillars? Enabling prosperous ecosystems, providing intelligent capital and facilitating leadership and entrepreneurship training.
Iraq (Kurdistan Region)
For Orange Corners Erbil, the next five years we’ll be working with Five One Labs. This international startup incubator helps talented entrepreneurs from diverse communities launch their startups. Their vision? To develop an inclusive network of innovators and entrepreneurs that have the support, skills and connections to positively impact their communities.
Mali
The new Orange Corners Mali hub will be run by DoniLab. Founded in 2015, DoniLab is the first incubator and support structure for innovative entrepreneurship in Mali. Their mission? To support Malians in their entrepreneurial careers, while promoting projects with added value for the country.
Nigeria
In Nigeria, we’re happy to announce the continuation of our collaboration with FATE Foundation. Nigeria’s foremost business incubator and accelerator, since 2000 FATE Foundation has enabled aspiring and emerging Nigerian entrepreneurs to start, grow and scale their businesses.
Sudan
In Sudan too, we’re excited to build on an existing partnership with 249Startups. With over a decade of experience in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship and technology, 249Startups has committed itself to building Sudan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and helping startups to flourish.
South Africa
Orange Corners was born in South Africa, and we’re excited to double our impact here in the next few years. In addition to the existing programme implemented in Johannesburg by the Orange Corners Trust we’ll also start a new programme focused on Design Thinking in cooperation with the Craft and Design Institute. A non-profit with over 20 years of experience developing creative people, small businesses and the craft and design sector in South Africa, their mission is to develop capable people and build responsible creative enterprises.
South Sudan
Implementing partner for our new Orange Corners South Sudan programme will be BizEx Limited. One of the biggest business conglomerates in East Africa, BizEx specialises in import and export. With many years of experience in a large number of different business sectors, BizEx will be able to help South Sudanese entrepreneurs scale and internationalise – regardless of the sector they’re active in.
