Honouring Mandela: Orange Corners Senegal explores transformational leadership

In honour of Mandela Day, Orange Corners Senegal hosted a powerful leadership training session that blended inspiration, reflection and practical wisdom for our community of entrepreneurs. The event, led by renowned U.S.-based leadership coach TJ Kostecky, focused on transformational leadership and asked each participant to consider a profound question: “What can I do to serve others through my leadership?”

Coach TJ, who brings over 40 years of experience in both academia and athletics, introduced the 5 Ps of Leadership framework: Perception, Process, Planning, Performance and Persistence. The interactive session explored the 10 essential qualities of a transformational leader, with rich discussions rooted in real-life examples.

In a poignant tribute to Nelson Mandela, the training also included a video highlighting Mandela’s legacy, followed by a group dialogue on the power of resilience. Participants were then guided through a creative exercise to craft their own “mantra of resilience”, connecting Mandela’s enduring values with their personal and entrepreneurial journeys.

The session gathered current Orange Corners Senegal incubatees along with select alumni from our older cohorts 4, 5 and 6. Together, they celebrated not only Mandela’s legacy but also the spirit of community, leadership and purpose-driven entrepreneurship.
