It is with a heavy heart that we announce the premature closing of the Orange Corners South Sudan training programme that has been implemented by BizEx Limited since January 2024.
The Orange Corners South Sudan training programme was foreseen to run until the end of 2028. However, during the first two years of implementation, we assessed that implementation and management of the programme was not of sufficient quality. In addition, we concluded that specific conditions attached to the grant provided by the Kingdom of the Netherlands for this project were not being met to a satisfactory extent.
In the two years of implementation, 68 entrepreneurs were supported to set up and grow their business. We thank them for their active participation and welcome them in our global alumni community, where they we continue to be supported in their journey. We also express our gratitude to the team members of BizEx and the partners Cypress Enterprises Limited, Liquid Intelligent Technologies and the University of Juba. Their commitment to youth entrepreneurship in South Sudan has been the key driver of the programme.
The Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF) implemented with the Foundation for Youth Initiatives (FYI) will continue as normal as possible for entrepreneurs who have graduated from the training programme. As OCIF is intended to be complementary to the training programme, we are currently assessing the implications of the closure of the Orange Corners training programme for OCIF South Sudan.
We hope for everyone’s understanding during this transition phase.
