Orange Corners is supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Africa and the Middle East. One of the most important components is access to finance. Orange Corners, Viridian, DGGF and the African Angel Academy team up to train African Angel Investors. After the last cohort in Angola and DRC, AAA is currently working with 92 emerging angel investors from Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, Botswana and other African countries.

The 92 emerging angel investors from Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda, Sudan, Botswana and other African countries have got access to AAA’s online course. The investors are invited to attend live masterclasses and investor Q&A’s. In an online course with the duration of 3 months, the investors are trained to be a professional Angel Investor.

Orange Corners and the African Angel Academy are looking forward to the valuable learning exchange that will take place over the next 3 months, bringing into focus learnings from these local ecosystems, and most importantly, supporting the angel investors in facilitating connections and collaborations that will see them increasing their activity and support to startups.

The Netherlands ambassador in, Irma van Dueren believes in the value of the African Angel Academy: “Private sector development is one of the core aspects of our work in Sudan. Supporting the Sudanese entrepreneurial ecosystem is absolutely essential to this. We believe that any transformation can’t happen without the private sector, and young and innovative entrepreneurs play a key role in this. One of the most visible ways of our support to entrepreneurs is through Orange Corners, an incubation programme and investment fund for the most promising future business leaders. It is always very inspiring to speak to the ambitious and bright entrepreneurs taking part in the programme, and to hearing their success stories if they grew their business. This programme is only possible through the generous participation of eight private sector partners. Other ways in which we support the ecosystem as a whole include Rhino Accelerators and the Dutch Good Growth Fund – and of course the Sudanese Business Angel Network”.

About the African Angel Academy

The Academy was established in early 2020, as the first online training platform for new and aspiring angel investors developed by Viridian and Viktoria Ventures, with the endorsement of the African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and with seed funding from the Southern African Innovation Support (SAIS) Programme. The academy has trained over 294 angel investors since its launch in 2020,  from over 10 countries and mentored multiple angel groups.
