In February 2024, the Knowledge to Knowledge (K2K) Algeria project concluded, bringing to a close a two-year journey dedicated to building entrepreneurship capacity. This initiative, launched by Orange Corners and spearheaded by the Maastricht School of Management (MSM), provided essential support to leaders, educators and incubation managers at the Universities of Oran 1 and 2, as well as l’Ecole Supérieure Algérienne des Affaires (ESAA).
Yamina Bannacer, Policy Assistant for Trade and Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Algeria, and Prof. Ahmed Chaalal, Rector of the University of Oran 2, emphasised the project’s importance. They noted that it not only aligns with Algeria’s goal of boosting youth employment through entrepreneurship, but also strengthens the bilateral relationship between Algeria and the Netherlands. This project has laid a solid foundation for future institutional collaborations.
Dr. Huub Mudde, MSM’s project lead, expressed his gratitude to all involved, highlighting the significant progress made in fostering entrepreneurship within Algerian universities. Over the course of two years, ten comprehensive training and coaching sessions were conducted, addressing key topics such as incubator management, open innovation and entrepreneurial strategy development. Noteworthy outcomes include the integration of entrepreneurial competencies into various study programmes and the establishment of university incubators with well-defined strategies.
The K2K Algeria project is a testament to the power of collaboration and the commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship. While this marks the conclusion of the project, it also signals the continuation of the journey toward a more vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in Algeria.
